Beware Feeding Frenzy @ Animal Resort Singapore!

Beware Feeding Frenzy @ Animal Resort Singapore!

I have been looking for places where kids can get up close and feed the animals (aside from the Singapore Zoo). Fellow mommy bloggers pointed me to Animal Resort Singapore at Seletar West Farmway.

I don’t drive so we have to take a taxi all the way to Seletar. I have one BIG FEAR. What if there is no taxi to take us OUT of the farm? When I checked googlemaps, it did not look promising. It looked far from the main road. However, I consoled myself that worst case, I can use our double stroller to push the kids out of the farm.

We decided to go on a weekday to avoid the crowd. It took us 40 minutes via cab (and 20 or more ‘Are we there yet Mom?’ from my daughters).

If you want to feed the animals, you need to buy the food from the counter. 1 packet costs S$1. Buy 3 for 2$. I bought 3 packets – 1 packet of carrot (only 3 sticks!!) for the horse. 1 packet of fish feed and 1 packet of 2 legged-animal feed.

TIP: There is NO ADMISSION FEE to enter the farm. So you can go there and enjoy seeing the animals.

ANIMAL RESORT SINGAPORE – PIGEONS

My eldest went straight to feed the pigeons. She was very happy.

ANIMAL RESORT SINGAPORE – HORSE

My youngest wanted to feed the horse. She hesitated at first but was very happy when she managed to feed the horse. The 3 carrot slices disappeared in no time!

ANIMAL RESORT SINGAPORE – FISHES

So now, I’m left with the fish feed packet. The eldest snatched this away from me and happily went over to the ponds to feed the fish. There are 2 fish ponds. One near the horse, and one near the rabbit cages.

We went over to see the rabbits and saw other kids feeding them carrots. I’m not sure if this is okay so I asked auntie from the counter first before purchasing another set of food packets.

The rabbits happily chewed on the carrots. All the rabbit looked very healthy and chubby.

Soon the rabbits are full and most of them fell asleep. The kids got bored of holding the carrots as it does take some time for one rabbit to finish one stick. We still have some carrot leftovers so we went back to feed the horse. This time around, the kids are brave to feed by themselves. No need for mummies to hold them.

ANIMAL RESORT SINGAPORE – CASSOWARY

There is a unique animal next to the horse. It’s a CASSOWARY. We feed it with crunch bread pieces. You can also buy this from the counter. It took several attempts for the girls and the bird to get the feeding smoothly.

They fed the leftovers to the nearby pigeons.

ANIMAL RESORT SINGAPORE – PEACOCK, TURKEY, DUCKS

Then we discovered there are some more small animals at the back of the farm. There are ducks and peacocks. There was even a crowned crane!

After 60 minutes of feeding frenzy, it is time to rest. The farm has 2 swings for the kids to enjoy.

The trip to Animal Resort Singapore was memorable and we will definitely be back.
